“FLOATING evolved organically in the sense that I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I started training Muay Thai at a local gym in Astoria, Queens: Sitan Gym. This immediately opened the door to this rich and beautiful culture which I previously did not know existed, consisting of many more gyms, fighters, promoters and coaches who make up a thriving community of East Coast Muay Thai. With the blessing of my coaches I was able to photograph the fights and have intimate access to the fighters both in the ring and as they prepared for combat away from the crowds. I enter this space as a humble student and I am in debt to all the men, women and children who continue to practice in this ancient tradition.” - Adrian David
